- 1 vegan shortcrust pastry
- 6-8 apples
- 1/2 lemon
- 100 gr vegetable margarine
- 100 gr cane sugar or brown sugar
- Optional: Vanilla ice cream.
Instructions
- Prepare the apples. Remove skin and core and cut in half.
- Rub the lemon half over the apples to prevent darkening.
- In an ovenproof frying pan (22 cm in diameter), heat the sugar until it caramelizes slightly.
- Add the chopped margarine.
- Add apples, core side up.
- Cook over medium heat for 10 to 20 minutes, adding a little butter and sugar as needed.
- Roll out the shortcrust pastry into a disk 3 or 4 mm thick and the size of the mold.
- Cover the apples with the pastry.
- Bake at 180 C (350 F) for 40 to 50 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Wait 5 minutes after removing from the oven before turning out onto a serving dish.
- Optional: collect the cooking juices and pour over the tart.
- Optional: enjoy with vanilla ice cream.
