Here's the recipe for a marble cake like the Savane of my childhood. There are lots of steps, but it's really not that complicated.

Marble dough
- 4 egg(s)
- 230 g powdered sugar
- 120 g de clait
- 220 g wheat flour
- 2 c. teaspoon baking powder
- 160 g semi-salted butter
- 100 g of dark chocolate
Syrup for soaking
- 5 cl water
- 15 g powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 165°C.
- Butter and flour your baking tin.
- In a bowl, mix 2 eggs with half the sugar (115 g).
- In a second bowl, combine 2 eggs and the remaining 115 g sugar.
- Add half the milk (60 g) to each bowl.
- In each bowl, add half the flour (110g) and half the yeast (1 teaspoon).
- Mix the contents of both bowls well.
- In a bowl, which will be the "plain" bowl, add half the melted butter (80g) and mix again.
- Melt the chocolate in a bain-marie with the remaining butter (80g), then stir into the second bowl, which will be the "chocolate" bowl.
- Pour a third of the batter from the "plain" bowl into your cake tin.
- Smooth the surface with a spatula.
- Add half the dough from the "chocolate" bowl and smooth again.
- Add another third of the plain dough and smooth.
- Add the remaining chocolate paste and smooth.
- Finally, add the remaining plain dough and smooth.
- Place in the oven for approximately 50-60 minutes.
- Optional: If you want to add syrup. Add the sugar and stir to make a syrup.
- Optional: Immediately after removing from the oven, brush the surface of the cake with this mixture.
- Leave your cake to cool, then turn out onto a wire rack.
